AC/DC: Official Stream Of 'Rock Or Bust' Title Track
November 17, 2014An official stream of the title track of the new AC/DC album, "Rock Or Bust", is available below.
AC/DC guitarist Angus Young has spoken publicly for the first time about his brother and bandmate Malcolm's struggle with dementia in a new interview with Rolling Stone, revealing that Malcolm was already showing signs of his illness on the band's last album, 2008's "Black Ice". Angus explained, "It's something that had actually been happening for a long time," adding that Malcolm's symptoms, such as lapses in memory and concentration, "had surfaced even before the last project."
Angus added that Malcolm was "still capable of knowing what he wanted to do. I had said to him, 'Do you want to go through with what we're doing?' And he said, 'Shit, yeah'… [Malcolm] liked to finish what he started."
Angus also revealed that Malcolm was in treatment during his last tour with AC/DC, from 2008 to 2010, saying that he "got good help, good medical care," but had to "relearn a lot of things," including riffs he had written for AC/DC's biggest songs. Angus said the situation was "very strange for [Malcolm]. But he was always a confident guy, and we made it work."
Malcolm is currently in full-time care at a facility in Australia and did not play on "Rock Or Bust", although all the songs on the disc are credited to the two brothers.
Most of the disc's 11 songs were created by Angus from riffs he and Malcolm had accumulated on past records.
Malcolm's replacement in the band is his and Angus' nephew Stevie, who said, "Angus filled me in on what was going on with Mal. It wasn't going to be the band the way it was — that was impossible."
Angus admitted that Malcolm has not heard "Rock Or Bust", which comes out December 2.
As for AC/DC's future beyond this album and tour, producer Brendan O'Brien said it's all up to Angus at this point, explaining, "At some point, he has to decide, 'Is this something I want to keep doing, or have I said my piece?'"
